Aab Talebi (Cantaloupe Juice)
This is a popular hot summer drink that my mom let me prepare for the family as a kid. We’d have it for lunch along with a piece of naan/flat bread (believe it or not), since the scorching summer sun made it impossible to both eat and cook. To make up for the light lunch our dinners were usually a bit more substantial.
Ingredients (serves 2):
- 1 cantaloup- chilled
- sugar to taste
- lemon juice
- Slice cantaloupe into two. Remove seeds. Cut into wedges then peel.
- In a mixing bowl grate each piece using the large blades. Stir in sugar or sugar substitute along with a HINT of rosewater and fresh lemon juice if using.
- Pour into individual glasses and serve.
Although non-traditional, but you may process in a blender to get the consistency of a smoothie.
